Opis działu w języku polskim.

Po raz pierwszy zetknąłem się z tematyką dawnego uzbrojenia pod koniec szkoły podstawowej. Wszystko zaczęło się w 1997 roku, kiedy to kupiłem i przeczytałem książkę/album autorstwa Michele Byam pt.: Broń i zbroje w świetnym tłumaczeniu z języka angielskiego na polski przez świętej pamięci, profesora Zdzisława Żygulskiego jun. Od tamtego czasu czytam i zbieram publikacje poświęcone temu tematowi. Staram się postrzegać uzbrojenie nie tylko i wyłącznie jako narzędzie eksterminacji fizycznej lecz szerzej, inter dyscyplinarnie, czyli poprzez różne dziedziny nauki. Najbardziej interesuje mnie w bronioznawstwie aspekt uzbrojenia jako nośnika kultury. Dziś patrząc na broń mogę dużo powiedzieć o jej właścicielu, np. w co wierzył, co uważał za piękne, jakie miał nastawienie do życia i śmierci, w jakich dziejach żył, skąd pochodził.

I first encountered the topic of ancient weapons at the end of primary school. It all began in 1997, when I bought and read a book/album by Michele Byam entitled "Arms and Armor," superbly translated from English into Polish by the late Professor Zdzisław Żygulski Jr. Since then, I've been reading and collecting publications on this topic. I try to perceive weaponry not only as a tool of physical extermination but also more broadly, interdisciplinarily, through various fields of study. I'm most interested in weaponry studies in its role as a cultural medium. Today, looking at a weapon, I can tell a lot about its owner, for example, what they believed in, what they found beautiful, their attitude towards life and death, the history they lived in, and where they came from.
